Landscape Consultation
(Time is charged on an hourly basis; it usually takes 1.5 to 2 hours.)
What do we accomplish at a Consultation?
1. We discuss your needs, dreams, and budget
2. Offer general design suggestions and ways to solve site problems
3. Suggest general planting ideas
4. Discuss layout of certain landscape elements on site
5. Explain pros & cons of different landscape treatments and materials
6. Discuss your options on how to proceed
7. Provide resources, for example, portfolio of work done, recommended contractors, sources for landscape products and accessories, maintenance tips, websites, etc.
Landscape Construction Plan
A detailed plan helps you get it right the first time!
1. The initial consultation to
find out what you need, I will give you an estimate for the construction design
2. I measure and take photographs
of your yard
3. From this information, I draw
up a detailed ‘to scale’ site plan, which shows us all the conditions in your yard that will affect what we design including drainage, wind, sun, privacy and access needs, slope, etc.
4. When the concept design is
ready, we meet to identify any changes that you require, so that I can complete
the final landscape plan.
5. When you have the final plan, I
can help you decide what to contract out. I can recommend reliable contractors who do excellent work.
Planting Plans
1. At the initial consultation we
choose your favourite trees, shrubs and perennials.
2. After this consultation to discuss your needs, I will give you an estimate for the planting design.
3. Using the Construction Plan as a base, I prepare the planting plan. All plants are drawn to scale to their mature size, to avoid future overcrowding.
4. When selecting plants, I consider: ‘four-season’ interest, micro-climates, soil conditions, views, colour, texture, size shape, contrast, foliage, style, plant arrangements, cost and availability.
5. You also get separate plant lists that you can take to nurseries or contractors for supply and installation estimates.
